TaylorMade vowed to make the new r7 CGB MAX family of clubs to be the very best game-improvement equipment that money can buy, and the TaylorMade R7 CBG MAX irons lived up to that promise. They were praised in golf reviews and hot on the golf market.
Well first off they look great, the tungsten weights at the back are visible and maybe look a bit odd, but they are to highlight that they are there so we can forgive that. The perimeter is chunky, with a thick topline (hollow so they can redistribute that weight) and a wide sole.
The TaylorMade R7 CBG MAX irons have kept the CG low by using a thinner steel face, which is also supposed to raise the COR, and taking the weight from that topline and adding it to the bottom, the tungsten weights help to take all the extra weight and keep it nice and low.
You can see the Inverted Cone Technology at the back of the face, and it has a similar cavity badge to the Burner irons to help dampen any harshness in their feel.
These clubs look very cutting edge. Given that they are TaylorMade, this is not very surprising. TaylorMade always seems to come up with high tech looking club offerings. From the textured black area on the backside of the clubface, to the black steel shafts…head to toe, these irons will look awesome in your bag.
Overall the TaylorMade R7 CBG MAX irons are very forgiving just as they are designed to be, with even the highest handicapper being able to get their shots up in the air and heading where they want them, in 2007 when they were released I probably would have said they were great for high handicappers as many other golf reviews have said so, but low-mid handicappers who need good feel and control will probably have to look elsewhere.
